About the Programs
|
The Indiana University Kokomo School of Nursing is a Multi-campus school dedicated to the education of caring and scientifically trained nurse professionals. IU Kokomo's nursing programs are fully accredited by the Indiana State Board of Nursing, the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
Suspension of both the ASN and LPN to ASN Transition Programs is effective with the graduation of the class of 2008.
The Associate of Science (criteria and curriculum) degree program prepares graduates for entry-level positions in health care settings. The program provides a strong liberal arts foundation plus specialized nursing education at the college level. Entry into the A.S.N. degree program is competitive and is based upon the prenursing grade point average and completion of prerequistes. Upon completion of the A.S.N. degree, you'll be qualified to care for adults and children in structured health care settings. The Licensed Practical nurse can earn the A.S.N. degree through the Community College Transition Program (CCTP).
The Bachelor of Science degree in nursing prepares the professional nurses with a broad knowledge of nursing, the humanities, and biological and social sciences. As a student in the program, you'll learn to function as a beginning nurse in all health care settings, and you'll receive a strong foundation for leadership positions as well as for graduate study in nursing.
In addition, the IU Kokomo School of Nursing also offers a transition program that enables the registered nurse to earn the B.S.N. degree.
