Nursing
The nursing program at IU Kokomo provides future nurses with strong academic training in the sciences as well as the background to offer caring, personalized care for patients. Both the associate and bachelor's degree programs are designed to give students the opportunity to begin the practical skills of nursing in a clinical setting early in their studies. The School of Nursing also offers transition programs that enable the registered nurse to earn the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or the licensed practical nurse to earn the Associate of Science in Nursing degree through the Community College Transition Program.
The Master of Science in Nursing degree, offered in collaboration with the IU School of Nursing in Indianapolis, focuses on community health nursing.
Careers
In addition to working in hospital specialties such as emergency, critical care, and maternity, many nurses provide care in other settings, such as clinics, hospices, and patient homes. Other nurses work in research, administration, community health, or corporate wellness. Graduates with the master's degree are prepared to provide effective leadership in improving nursing practice and health care outcomes.
